Overview
Cross-border inheritance is not only about determining who is entitled to inherit. The more practical question is how the estate can be lawfully administered and transferred in Thailand.
Where a deceased person leaves real estate, bank accounts, shares in Thai companies, vehicles or other assets in Thailand, heirs may need to address a combination of Thai legal requirements, including the validity and interpretation of wills, identification of statutory heirs, court appointment of an estate administrator, estate liabilities, taxes and fees, and the eventual registration or transfer of each asset.
